But what puzzled him was how she ate with such a tiny, cherry-like mouth—how long would it take her to finish that small portion of pasta in front of her?

With the amount on her plate, he could have finished it in three bites.

Sensing his gaze from the corner of her eye, Chu Yihan looked up at him. “Is something wrong?”

Could it be that her eating was unpleasant to watch? That shouldn’t be the case—she always ate slowly, never wolfing down her food.

Jiang Yu spoke stiffly, “If you don’t have anything else, I’ll be going first.”

She was eating, after all. It would be awkward and boring for him to just sit there watching her eat.

Better to go upstairs and play billiards with Zhang Kai.

Jiang Yu didn’t notice the slight change in her expression. He walked to the bar, picked up his phone, and went upstairs.

On her day off, Chu Yihan slept until she woke naturally. She reached for her phone on the bed, glanced at the time—it was almost noon.

She lazily got out of bed, washed up in the bathroom, and then picked a dress from her wardrobe before heading out in her car.

Her car drove to Lihu Villa in the southwest of the capital, said to be the most luxurious mansion in the city.

Nestled between a mountain and a lake, the natural environment was unmatched by other areas. Complete amenities included a golf course and an equestrian club… everything for entertainment could be enjoyed right at home.

The housekeeper trimming the hedges outside saw the familiar car and hurried over. “Miss, you’re back!”

Chu Yihan held her bag and locked the car door. “Aunt He, are Mom and Dad home?”

Aunt He put down the hedge trimmer. “Yes, madam and sir are having lunch right now.”

Chu Yihan said, “Perfect timing—I haven’t eaten yet.”

Aunt He immediately said, smiling, “I’ll make a few of your favorite dishes.”

Chu Yihan smiled slightly. “No need, I’ll just have something light.”

“All right,” Aunt He said happily. “I’ll make some matcha daifuku for you later.”

“Sounds great! I’ve been craving your desserts,” she said. Being a matcha fanatic, she loved anything with matcha flavor.

Chu Yihan entered the house, changed into slippers, and walked toward the dining room. Her parents were having lunch and chatting, not noticing her return.

She walked up and raised her voice slightly, in a clear, sweet tone: “Dad, Mom.”

Her parents froze mid-action and looked up at her in unison. “Yiyi?”

“Mm-hmm,” Chu Yihan walked over to them. “Why do you look so surprised?”

Her mother lightly patted her hand. “Why didn’t you let us know you were coming home?”

Chu Yihan laughed, “I’m coming back to my own home—do I need to tell you in advance?”

Her mother pulled out a chair, gesturing for her to sit down. “What kind of thing is that to say?”

“Just making sure you’re home when I get back,” Chu Yihan replied with a gentle smile.

Seeing the lavish lunch on the table, her stomach started growling. “I’ll get the bowls and chopsticks.”

During the meal, her father asked, “Is this your first meal today?”

“Yes. I came straight home after waking up,” Chu Yihan said quickly, afraid he’d start lecturing her. Then she added, “I’ll stay tonight to keep you company.”

Hearing this, her father abandoned his lecture, realizing his daughter had been away for over half a month, and she was busier than he, a group CEO.

Her mother picked up a piece of Longjing shrimp and placed it in her bowl. “Yiyi, Dad and I went to an auction a few days ago. We got a green diamond over fifty carats. We’ll show it to you later.”

Chu Yihan’s eyes lit up instantly. She eagerly asked, “Where is it? I want to see it right now.”

When her parents bought something, it was always rare and precious jewelry.

Her father put a hand on her as she tried to get up. “Eat first.”

With her father holding the green diamond, she dared not defy his “order.”

Her father asked, “How’s your studio doing?”

Chu Yihan swallowed her food and said slowly, “It’s fine, we’re making money for sure.”

Her father patted her on the back of the head with his left hand. “I’m not asking about money. I’m asking if you’re busy, if you’re tired.”

Even if she didn’t work, the family could support her. But becoming a jewelry designer was her dream and passion, so he fully supported her. Every time he saw rare high-end jewelry, he would buy it for her.

“It’s okay,” Chu Yihan said softly. “Work is important, but health is more important.”

Her father said, “Don’t just say it.” He knew her well.

Her mother glanced at her father and said, “Let Yiyi finish her meal quietly. Any matters can wait until after.”

“All right,” her father said, closing his mouth. At home, the eldest speaks first.

Chu Yihan secretly gave her mother a thumbs-up—her mom’s words always carried more weight.

After lunch, her father immediately retrieved the green diamond from the study. “Yiyi, look at the color and clarity.”

Chu Yihan put down her glass and took the diamond, examining it carefully.

The over fifty-carat diamond was oval-shaped, a very clear light green, with high clarity making it exceptionally transparent.

Colored diamonds are naturally unique and rare. Most get their color from trace elements over millions of years.

But there’s one colored diamond that’s different: its color comes from radiation—natural green diamonds.

And this was exactly that.

According to GIA statistics, green diamonds account for only 0.07% of all natural diamonds worldwide—less than one-tenth of one percent.
