Chapter : 07
At first, the photo was semi-transparent, and you could still see the game interface. Big Gold Chain was randomly clicking the mouse, but the photo’s visual effect gradually intensified, as if it was going to crawl out of the screen to claim a life—it was terrifying.
But seeing Big Gold Chain scared and twisted, Zhou Qingluo found the scene somewhat comical.
The network admin ran over, startled too, but no matter how he tried, he couldn’t close it. In the end, sweating heavily, he concluded, “Clearly, your computer has been hacked.”
Zhou Qingluo folded the hundred-yuan bills Big Gold Chain had given him and put them in his pocket, speaking seriously:
“Maybe it’s a sign from heaven. After all, there are gods above our heads.”
Everyone’s eyes immediately turned toward Zhou Qingluo. Silence lingered for a while until someone couldn’t help but snicker.
Once one person laughed, the others didn’t hold back—they laughed loudly, as if they had often suffered under Big Gold Chain’s bullying and wanted to take this chance to mock him.
As an internet celebrity and comedy blogger, Zhou Qingluo always knew how to attract and entertain people.
He half-smiled and added:
“Mr. Gold, when you’re out, make sure to strictly follow the core socialist values.”
Big Gold Chain pointed at Zhou Qingluo’s nose, swearing as he left the internet café: “Just you wait. You wait for me!”
The crowd laughed even harder. Only the small network admin was sweating, anxious and unable to handle it. But the “hanging ghost” photo had been there too long; after staring at it for a while, it wasn’t scary anymore.
Zhou Qingluo was about to leave when the panicked network admin grabbed his hand:
“Your delivery team is full of talents. Why don’t you try?”
Zhou Qingluo: “?”
The network admin looked earnest:
“There are so many short videos online saying delivery guys can draw, do floral arrangements, program, do interior design, speak three foreign languages, and some even have PhDs.”
Zhou Qingluo stared at him silently, wanting to remind him not to blindly trust short videos, or he’d end up hoarding health supplements in old age.
He smiled kindly:
“Don’t spread anxiety. The delivery industry isn’t that competitive yet.”
As Zhou Qingluo was about to leave, his eyes casually landed on the man at seat 26.
He was programming!
Just like in the movies, his long, strong fingers flew over the black keyboard. Strings of white code appeared in black windows.
The man looked about his age, focused completely on the screen. He had a high nose bridge, defined features, and a very handsome profile.
His skin was pale, almost blending with his clean white shirt.
He looked neat and clean, yet there was a sharp kind of beauty about him.
Zhou Qingluo wondered if he was a celebrity filming a hacker movie.
He looked around to see if there were any cameras filming a scene; maybe he had accidentally become an extra.
Otherwise, who would be programming in an internet café on the edge of town?
The network admin still pinned his hopes on Zhou Qingluo.
Zhou Qingluo cleared his throat and pointed at the man at seat 26:
“Maybe he can help you.”
Just then, the man finished his work, tapped Enter with his long fingers, closed the page, and pulled out his USB drive.
The network admin saw a new hope and gratefully looked at Zhou Qingluo. He gently reminded him:
“Brother, his surname is Xia, not Jin. Just because someone wears a gold chain doesn’t mean their last name is Jin.”
Zhou Qingluo: “……” You really know too much.
The network admin turned to seat 26 for help:
“Hey, can you check what’s wrong with this computer?”
The man turned his head. Zhou Qingluo couldn’t help but click his tongue. Not only was his profile handsome, but his face was even more striking—sharp, defined features, exuding a cold charm, effortlessly stunning anyone who looked at him.
His face looked highlighted, and even his turning motion seemed like a dramatic entrance from a romantic drama.
Zhou Qingluo stared at him like admiring a breathtaking sculpture. When his gaze passed over the man’s Adam’s apple, he paused.
On the right side of his throat, at a major artery, there was a tattoo.
It was the rarest flower—a blooming Juliet rose. Next to the rose were two letters: YS.
The letters intertwined with the flower, hinting at many untold stories.
Pale skin, a tattoo, a white shirt—the man in front of him gradually matched the blurry image of his life-saving benefactor in his mind.
Truly, searching everywhere in vain, only to find the right person at last.
Zhou Qingluo controlled his emotions, trying not to look like he was desperately thinking, “Your Majesty, do you remember Xia Yuhua by Daming Lake?”
The man didn’t notice his eager gaze. Looking at the network admin, he said coldly:
“In ten seconds, it will be gone.”
Network admin: “How do you know?”
The man replied ambiguously:
“I hacked it.”
Everyone: “……” Anyone can act cool; some people just have a big face.
But his gaze was too cold, the tattoo too wild. Though handsome, he also looked like a villain carrying hidden weapons—no one spoke up.
The man slowly packed up. Everyone silently watched the computer, counting down ten seconds.
Sure enough, after ten seconds, the computer shut down.
The man stood up and said coldly:
“Just restart, and it’ll be fine.”
The network admin restarted it. The computer worked perfectly, no problems at all.
Zhou Qingluo: “……” Tattooed on the life gate, hacked someone’s computer with such a fresh and elegant photo—my life-saving benefactor really has personality.
Network admin: “Handsome guy, want to be our network admin?”
Zhou Qingluo thought the question was directed at him and immediately replied:
“How much per month?”
Network admin: “I asked him. Our company isn’t hiring security staff right now.”
Zhou Qingluo: “……”
The man seemed uninterested in their chatter, glanced at Zhou Qingluo with a faint smile, and walked out of the café.
Zhou Qingluo hurried after him, calling out:
“Wait!”
His long legs were incredible, taking large, fast strides.
The man looked back, and Zhou Qingluo ran up to catch him.
