Chapter 1
Eun Ji-anâs father, Eun Pil-beom, was what youâd call a textbook doting dad.
Except now, add bulging muscles and a rough-and-tumble Gyeongsang-do macho temperament to the mix.
âYou little bastard!â
He grabbed his son-in-law, Cha Yu-geon, by the collar and yanked him forward.
âSo what I heard is true? You really asked Ji-an if sheâd try getting knocked up with you firstâback when you were just on a blind date?â
The reason Pil-beom was convinced was simple: just moments earlier, both Yu-geon and Ji-an had gone utterly speechless at those words.
Which meant the rumor heâd heard had been true.
âDad! Dad, please stop! Itâs all a misunderstandingâ!â
âYou dare say something like that to my daughter before youâre even married?! And what was thatâcontract marriage?!â
Heâd lost his wife and raised his only daughter with care and devotion. All heâd ever wanted was for her to be happy.
Yet this Cha Yu-geon bastard had apparently used his daughterâs feelings as leverage to propose a contract marriage.
âYou used my daughter over some damn succession issue?! You piece of trashâI ought to beat you to death just to feel satisfied!â
Eyes bloodshot with rage, Pil-beom shook Yu-geon by the collar despite Ji-anâs attempts to stop him.
Heâd disliked the guy from the startâthis Cha Yu-geon with his absurdly excessive âpreferencesâ in women.
That was why heâd vehemently opposed his daughter marrying him, first love or not.
Turns out his instincts had been right.
ââŠFather-in-law. Actually, all of this is myââ
âShut it, you bastard! What do you think youâre doing, flapping that mouth of yours?! Divorce! Youâre getting divorced! First Iâm going to land a few punchesâ!â
Pil-beom raised his clenched fist.
He felt he wouldnât be satisfied unless he beat the man whoâd dared treat his precious daughter this way into a bloody pulp.
Meanwhile, Yu-geonâwho was physically superior even to Pil-beomâcould have shaken him off if he wanted.
But this was all his fault.
He had no intention of divorcing Ji-an now that heâd come to truly love herâbut he understood Pil-beomâs anger as a father.
As if prepared to accept whatever punishment came his way, Yu-geon squeezed his eyes shut.
âDonâtâ! Dad, please!â
The moment Pil-beom swung his fist, Ji-anâs scream echoed through the house.
* * *
Several months earlier.
âEsteemed executives and employees of CH Group, and all honored guests joining us today. On this meaningful occasion, we celebrate the 60th anniversary of CH Groupâs foundingââ
Cha Yu-geonâs refined voice echoed throughout the banquet hall.
The heir to CH Group and CEO of CH Construction, he was known as the crown prince of CHâtrusted for his sharp insight and flawless execution.
With exceptional ability and striking good looks that lit up the room, he radiated overwhelming presence as he delivered the opening address.
People watched him with awe, as if gazing upon someone beyond reach.
Unaware that beneath his composed exterior, he was thinkingâ
Why does Eun Ji-an have to be so unnecessarily beautiful? I canât even focus.
Because of his wifeâs overwhelming beauty seated at one side of the hall.
Slender yet voluptuous, wearing an elegant beige gown, Eun Ji-an looked as though she belonged not at an awards ceremony, but in a temple where gods resided.
Large, clear, deer-like eyes. A delicate yet defined nose. Cherry-red lips.
And that small, pure face somehow holding all those featuresâit was almost unbelievable.
Yu-geon was trulyâ
Iâm going insane.
Because he kept stealing glances at her.
He had work to focus on, yet Eun Ji-an kept hijacking his gaze.
Work. Business.
For a workaholic like Yu-geon, that was all that mattered.
Work was like a game to himâeasy and enjoyable.
Surveying the board, making brilliant moves, efficiently clearing tasks one after another.
Before he knew it, he was always ahead of everyone else.
Women, by comparison, felt trivial.
He wasnât someone who needed to marry up for advantage. If anything, women constantly demanded things from him and got in the way.
Yet he had ended up married for a reason.
âYu-geon, youâre getting used to running the construction division. Isnât it about time you got married?â
When his father, Chairman Cha Jong-hwan, began pressuring him like any other parent, blind date offers suddenly poured in.
Yu-geon resisted, but eventually gave in under the chairmanâs relentless push and went on blind dates with a sour expression.
He still had no intention of marrying.
He merely wanted to exhaust his father into giving up.
What a waste of time.
Eventually, he devised a quick and efficient way to sabotage blind dates.
He hired a beautiful woman to crash them, pretending to be his girlfriend.
âJust act like my lover and ruin the date convincingly.â
âUnderstood. I once dreamed of becoming an actress, so I studied acting. Iâll make it naturalâand definitive.â
Sheâd sounded confident.
And trustworthy.
Thenâ
âYu-geon! What do you think youâre doing here?! With a woman shorter than me, wearing whatâsize 55 and a half? And with a long mid-face? Most of allâyou said you liked women who were skinny but had naturally huge boobs! You said you could tolerate an empty head, but not an empty bra cup!â
When did I everâ?!
Was this her debut stage? Had she chosen my blind date to fulfill her unrealized acting dreams?
Heâd expected to come off as trash, given the setupâbut she turned him into absolute garbage.
And so began the spread of bizarre conditions required to qualify as Cha Yu-geonâs blind date.
What Yu-geon didnât realize was what happened next.
Women in elite circles laughed over the blind date gossipâ
âWhat is Cha Yu-geon even? Heâs hilarious!â
But thenâ
âHonestly⊠I kind of get it.â
âYou too? Same. I trashed him too, but letâs be realâheâs insanely handsome.â
âExactly. And heâs the CH heir. If an average guy said that, heâd be ridiculousâbut Cha Yu-geon? Thatâs different.â
Rather than resenting him, women began trying to appeal to his tastes.
âHe likes natural C-cups or bigger.â
âApparently D-cups minimum.â
âBrains donât matter, but boobs have to be at least an EâŠâ
Thanks in part to the hired womanâs looks, his fake preferences grew more exaggerated by the day.
By the time Yu-geon learned of the monstrous list attributed to him, he was stunned.
At first, he was furious.
Thenâ
Well⊠does it even matter?
He changed his perspective.
If he didnât want to get married anyway, what difference did it make if people thought he was trash?
Better yet, women would eliminate themselves.
He continued hiring the woman, and blind date offers dwindledâuntil they disappeared entirely.
Life was peaceful.
Until a woman appeared claiming to meet all those insane conditions.
That woman was Eun Ji-an.
When he first saw her, he was flustered.
She looked like sheâd stepped out of a master painterâs canvas.
Contrary to expectations, she looked up at him with innocent eyes.
She was just⊠too beautiful.
For the first time in his life, Yu-geon was struck speechless by a woman.
âW-well? It seems I meet all of your conditions, Mr. Cha Yu-geonâŠâ
ââŠ.â
âHeight, weight, facial features, sagging, calves, waist, a-and my chest tooâŠâ
As she rattled them off, blushing furiously, his head started to ache.
Pretty was prettyâbut his bachelorism wasnât something to be overturned by looks alone.
She was someone he had to reject.
Unfortunately, that day, the hired woman had been in an accident and never arrived.
Even if she had, it wouldnât have mattered.
Ji-an was more beautiful in every way.
Left with no choice, Yu-geon spoke himself.
âDo you really want to marry that badly?â
âYes. I⊠like you, Mr. Cha Yu-geon.â
Predictable.
He almost laughed.
And yet⊠it felt oddly good.
Clearing his throat, he continued.
âEvery woman says that. What could you possibly know about me?â
âIâŠ! You saved meââ
âSpare me the clichĂ©s. Iâm curiousâhow far would you go for the man you like? Would you even try getting pregnant? Conveniently, weâre at a hotel.â
