The Fallen Cult’s Genius Perfumer – Chapter 11
Prim spoke calmly again.
“But Rozien, I’ll go and come back quickly.”
“…What?”
“We said that even if we’re apart, we’re still family. Right?”
“No! We said we wouldn’t be apart! You promised me—we promised we wouldn’t separate…!”
Rozien said this while kneeling on the ground in front of Prim. Hearing that desperate and urgent voice, Prim’s heart suddenly dropped and felt as if it were being crushed.
It throbbed sharply, as though someone had driven an icy spike into the back of her head.
He had kept the promise.
In her previous life, he had kept that promise the whole time—never separating from her.
“Rozien, do you remember before we came to the orphanage? You tied your wrist and my wrist together when we slept.”
“Th-that was because I thought you might run away….”
Thinking she was blaming him, Rozien hurriedly tried to explain himself, but his voice trailed off.
Prim pulled Rozien’s wrist and placed it on her lap, then set her own wrist beside it.
Looking down at their smooth wrists with nothing tying them together, Prim said,
“That string was never untied.”
“……”
“I’ll really be back soon.”
“…What on earth are you going there to do?”
Rozien’s voice trembled slightly with anxiety. Seeing his youthful face, Prim unconsciously smiled a little.
In her memories of the past, he had been strong and capable, able to handle anything, and he understood her thoughts better than anyone.
But right now, he was still only a young boy.
“You’re smiling right now?”
“Ah, no. I’m not smiling. I’m not smiling, and I’ll come back soon, and then….”
Prim swallowed the rest of her words.
I’ll probably break the curse on my legs too. The curse that must have been one for you as well.
If that happened, she felt that the invisible string binding the two of them together might also be undone.
He could become free.
“Prim?”
“It’s nothing. When I come back, push the swing for me again.”
“…If you don’t go, I can push you ten million times. Even right now.”
Rozien, who had finally returned to his sulky expression, muttered grumpily.
“If I go, you won’t push me?”
“How could I not? I guess I can’t help it. I’ll only push you a million times.”
Until the bell rang announcing that a guest had arrived, Rozien kept pushing Prim on the swing.
