Lilith loathed the boy her younger sister, Rosalyn, had brought home.
A slave-born youth whose only asset was a striking face. By any measure, he was entirely beneath her sister’s station.
While everyone adored the narrative of “the beautiful noble lady and the destitute youth she rescued,” it only filled Lilith with a deep sense of revulsion.
So, upon hearing rumors that the two might elope under the cover of night, Lilith made up her mind. She had to kill him.
Lilith was ready to do whatever it took for Rosalyn’s sake.
Ultimately, she succeeded in banishing the young man to the brutal theater of war. Now, there was no longer any trace of a “nameless, lowly slave boy” by Rosalyn’s side. Lilith was genuinely satisfied.
Yet, for all her cleverness, the formidable Lilith Bleon could not have foreseen this:
She never imagined the man she sent to die would return a decorated hero. Nor did she expect that, upon his return, he would propose marriage—not to Rosalyn, but to her.
