Chapter – 10
“But the members here all come for racing.” Jiang Yuâs knuckled fingers played with the glass in his hand, his voice casual. “The minimum annual spending is thirty million.”
“If you donât race and just come here to eat and watch the races, itâs hard to reach that spending requirement.”
Chu Yihan pinched her fingers lightly and said leisurely, “But arenât there girls who get memberships too? Arenât they here for the racing as well?”
“If I donât reach the spending, I can still pay the thirty million myself. Isnât that enough?”
Money being handed to him on a silver platter, and he still refused.
Jiang Yu paused, surprised: “How do you know girls get memberships?” She had only come here for the first time yesterday, yet she seemed quite familiar with his club.
Those female members, he had always thought, were just rich and foolish. Besides, even though he was the owner, he didnât manage membershipsâthe club had people dedicated to that.
Chu Yihanâs expression remained calm as she said, “Just a guess.” She paused, then asked, “So, how do you get a membership?”
Jiang Yu realized that this membership was inevitable for her. He no longer resistedâmoney on the table was never a bad deal.
He picked up his phone and sent a message, replying lazily, “Wait a few minutes. Someone will bring you the membership card.”
Chu Yihan took a small sip of her drink, her gaze landing on the manâs left forearm. This time she clearly saw his tattoo: a line in EnglishâFreedom is supreme.
Freedom above all.
The tattoo matched his personality well. He carried an unrestrained charm, like a soaring hawkâfree and untethered.
Before he noticed, she shifted her gaze away and picked up the menu from the bar, ordering a Sicilian seafood pasta and a dessert: matcha yuzu Basque cheesecake.
She casually asked, “Will I be notified when the club holds a race next time?”
She needed an excuse to come back here and see him.
Jiang Yu lifted his eyelids lazily and said, “For more official races, youâll get a message. Smaller races happen here every day.”
It seemed the races really drew her attentionâshe was willing to pay thirty million just for that.
“Every day?” Chu Yihan glanced at him with some confusion. “Will you participate in tonightâs race?”
Jiang Yu tilted his head, his eyes half-closed in a lazy gaze, meeting her probing look. He smirked: “Tonightâs a small race.”
“Oh.” She understoodâhe wouldnât be participating tonight.
“You want to watch?” Jiang Yu glanced at the time on his phone. “It starts in half an hour.”
Chu Yihan blinked her alluring eyes at him and said softly, “If I donât watch, it wonât be as exciting as last night.”
Jiang Yuâs gaze met her fox-like eyes, and his heart skipped a beat. It was an ordinary action, yet in her hands, it became intoxicatingly seductive.
He clenched his right hand into a fist and lightly coughed against his lips, reminding himself not to look directly into her eyes. They seemed to carry the power to shock anyone at any time.
Chu Yihanâs lips curved slightly in a smile. She knew exactly how seductive her fox eyes could be, and she was determined to use this advantage in front of him.
The waiter brought the food.
Jiang Yu asked, “Youâre eating here?”
Chu Yihan was slightly stunned and murmured, “Do you expect me to take it home?”
The man twitched the corner of his eye, letting out a small laugh. “I mean, you can sit at the nearby table. This chair is too highâeating isnât convenient.”
Hearing this, Chu Yihan put down her fork. “Alright, Iâll move.”
Jiang Yu got up before her, carrying the desserts and pasta. “You take the drink.”
“Okay, thanks.” Chu Yihanâs eyes were filled with a smile as she held the lychee oolong tea in one hand and followed him.
Just as Jiang Yu placed the food on the round table, a male voice shouted his name.
He turned toward the voice, and upon recognizing the person, he wasnât particularly surprised. “Why are you here?” he asked casually.
Zhang Kai slouched over, “Why canât I come? This club is partly mine too.”
He glanced at Chu Yihan next to him, a teasing light in his eyes. “And whoâs this?”
The moment he walked in upstairs, he had seen the woman by Jiang Yuâs side. Her looks and presence were so outstanding that she naturally drew attention just by standing there.
After a few seconds of silence, Jiang Yu finally said slowly, “Just a friend.”
He didnât know how to introduce her. Saying ‘friend’ felt too casualâthey werenât close. Saying ‘club member’ felt distantâhe didnât serve members.
“A friend?” Zhang Kai raised an eyebrow, skeptical. “You have a friend I donât know? When did you make a new friend? Does Feng Zhuoxi know?”
The three of them were close friends, practically inseparable. Suddenly, a female friend appeared out of nowhereâit was unprecedented.
Jiang Yu shot him a sharp glance, saying nothing. “Why are you here?”
“I didnât say I came for you. I come whenever I want.” Zhang Kai twirled the membership card in his fingers. “I ran into Meng Yuanxiu earlier. He said this was given on your orders. For whom?”
He had already guessedâit was probably for the woman beside him.
Jiang Yu ignored him, took the card from Zhang Kai, and placed it in front of Chu Yihan. “This is yours.”
“Okay.” She picked up the card and placed it next to her phone.
Seeing this, Zhang Kai didnât ask further. “A friend of Jiang Yu is also my friend.”
He introduced himself to the person sitting, and they exchanged simple greetings.
“Iâll leave you two to chat. Iâm going upstairs to play billiards.”
Jiang Yu felt like Zhang Kai misunderstood their relationship. Just as he was about to clarify, Zhang Kai had already walked away.
He looked at the woman leisurely eating her pasta. Her long, fair fingers holding the cutlery were elegant. The soft lighting cast a glow on her face, making it easy to be captivated by her noble demeanor.
