Chapter 5
âIs there nothing more you need?â
After that, Chloe looked at him with curiosity and anticipation, wondering what he might have her do and what she could create with it.
Following her plan, Chloe had successfully obtained a talented young wizard.
Judging by her parentsâ and Esirâs reactions, she realized it wasnât that people had bad tasteâit was just that they had been eating the wrong food all along and didnât know what truly delicious food was.
Chloe ran at full speed and presented her parents with a dish of milk shaved ice.
âThis is a dish I made thanks to the wizard you supported. Itâs called âMilk Shaved Ice.â Please have a bite!â
Now, the duke and duchess no longer resisted Chloeâs food offerings. They quickly picked up their spoons and took a bite of the milk shaved ice.
Even though the duke usually didnât like sweets, he marveled at the sweet yet clean taste of the milk ice and finished his bowl.
The duchess, usually more talkative than the duke, unusually said nothing, finished her bowl, and then asked Chloe,
âIs there more of this?â
The duchess kept eating several servings of the milk shaved ice and only stopped when Chloe warned that eating too much could upset her stomach.
Feeling a sudden twinge of embarrassment that she had eaten so much, the duchess nonetheless lavished praise on Chloe.
âOh, my daughter, you can even make desserts this well. Thereâs nothing you canât do. This arrangement would be perfect for a party too.â
Chloe was taken aback by the duchessâs sudden suggestion and asked,
âA party?â
Somehow, they had enjoyed the milk shaved ice suspiciously muchâbut a party?
âJust how much did they enjoy the hamburger steak and milk shaved ice?â
They wanted to hold a party to serve the guests the hamburger steak and milk shaved ice she had made.
âItâs a bit embarrassingâŠâ
âEmbarrassing? No, I wanted to brag about this taste to everyone I know,â the duchess said confidently, now fully trusting Chloeâs cooking.
âOf course, it will be a small party. Only those who deserve to enjoy food made with your amazing talent will be invited.â
Chloe fell silent at this more burdensome remark. But no one could stop the duke and duchess from boasting about their daughterâs talent.
In the end, a party was held, whether Chloe wanted it or not.
The hamburger steak proudly took its place among the main dishes, and dessert was, of course, shaved ice topped with honey.
The guests all tasted the hamburger steak and milk shaved ice and were astonished.
They had come to the party with no particular expectations, just to humor the proud duke who wanted to show off his daughterâs talent.
With every bite, a wave of flavor unlike anything they had experienced before struck their taste buds.
The duke ignored the guestsâ astonishment and proudly showed off his daughter.
âHaha. This is my daughterâs first dish, and I hope everyone enjoys it.â
âYour Highness, the princessâs talent is incredible!â
âIndeed! Iâve never tasted food like this before!â
The duke didnât stop at the foodâhe also proudly introduced the refrigerator Chloe had developed to the nobles.
âItâs an item that keeps ingredients fresh for a long time⊠hmm.â
âOh, the young princess has come up with such a clever idea.â
âAn interesting concept, but I wonder how practical such a magical device really isâŠâ
Unlike the food, reactions to the refrigerator were divided.
Nobles who cooked themselves were generally indifferent, but those with agricultural or trade estates saw its value and their eyes lit up.
âCould you tell us more about this ârefrigeratorâ?â
âIâll prepare a separate session later.â
âThank you. You have a truly wise daughter.â
As praise for his daughter poured in, the duke couldnât hide his delight and smiled widely.
At just twelve years old, Chloe Garnet had succeeded in making her own name remembered by everyoneânot just as âthe Duke Garnetâs daughter.â
Of course, Chloe herself remained indifferent.
âIf my mindâs like an adult and I remember my past life, this level is the bare minimum.â
By comparison, being considered just an ordinary child would actually have been more problematic.
After enjoying the feast prepared with Chloeâs food, it was time for socializing. The young ladies who were familiar with her eagerly approached Chloe.
Two of them approached most warmly.
âItâs been a while, Chloe! Youâre really okay now, right?â
One was Rodessa Peppermint, a friend she had been close to even before remembering her past life.
âI didnât realize it before, but her last name is quite unusual.â
Behind her, Latier Chabet, another young noble, nodded politely when their eyes met.
Since both Rodessa and Latier were friendly toward Chloe, she smiled back gracefully.
âDid you both worry about my health? Thank you so much.â
Chloeâs mature response momentarily surprised Rodessa, who then said,
âYour health really is fine, right?â
It could have sounded like a subtle jab, but Rodessa genuinely seemed concerned about Chloeâs unusually composed demeanor.
âOf course. During my recovery, I reflected on what I could do for this estate and my parents.â
Chloe thought quietly to herself,
âBefore remembering my past life, I was a bit too assertive.â
At least she was fortunate not to have caused any major incidents or enemies.
Rodessa smiled in return.
âI see. As long as youâre satisfied, Iâm happy too. I wanted to come sooner, but I was busy with matters in the estate, so Iâm glad to finally meet you.â
Rodessa and Latier were also Chloeâs close friends in the âoriginal storyâ and had never betrayed her, so Chloeâs expression softened.
âTalking with peers isnât so bad after all.â
Rodessa and Latier chatted with Chloe for a while, and late at night, they left reluctantly.
The other children had already gone, leaving only adults nearby.
Uncomfortable with the deep conversations and alcohol, Chloe subtly slipped away.
âIâll take a walk, then go back to my room to sleep.â
She stepped into the garden for a short walk.
âHuh? Whoâs there?â
Another visitor was in the gardenâa small figure, probably a child her age. Chloe approached, thinking one of the few children invited might have gotten lost.
â!â
It was a blond boy. Even under the dim night sky, his blond hair was strikingly bright.
Seeing such vivid blond hair on a boy her age, only one person came to mind. Could it really be him?
âSchuel CyclamenâŠ?â
Hearing her whisper, the boy looked up at Chloe.
âYou know me?â
It sounded innocent, not scolding her for saying his name. Chloe immediately bowed with perfect etiquette.
âYour Highness, itâs an honor to meet you.â
He was none other than Schuel Cyclamenâthe original storyâs male lead and the future crown prince.
His golden hair shimmered like poured honey, and his light golden eyes confirmed it.
âDefinitely the male lead.â
The undeniable male lead of the original story, the current prince, and future crown prince, Schuel, was indeed standing before her.
Seeing his face, Chloe understood why the âoriginal Chloeâ had been so obsessed with Schuel to the point of misbehaviorâit was entirely plausible.
Not kiddingâshe had never seen anyone as handsome as Schuel, in this life, the previous one, or even on TV.
But that wasnât the point.
Chloe recalled why her parents had included children on the guest list for a party they were holding to show off their daughter.
