Chapter 10
The girlâs eerie laughter echoed through the mist, and the Third Boss squinted his eyes, scanning the area.
âBe careful! This fog is poisonous!â
The Third Boss covered his nose and shouted, but unfortunately, it was already too late.
Once inhaled, the smoke would make a person feel weak and eventually die from the poison. The amount inhaled only affected the degree of weakness.
I quickly eliminated the remaining low-level henchmen with ease and dispelled the poisonous fog that hung over the square. The Third Boss had inhaled a bit of my poison as well. Although his level was far higher than mine, he clearly wasnât feeling comfortable.
He scanned his surroundings again, only to find that all his subordinates were dead.
âHey~ how does it feel?â I asked, grinning wickedly.
âYouâre pretty skilled, but youâre only level 7, while Iâm level 14! And yet, youâre gloating just for killing a few minor thugs. Let me tell you honestly: there are plenty of people like them in our village. You little witch, instead of getting cocky here, maybe think about the ending youâll face after I knock you down! Donât worry, Iâll make it fun for youâeven if itâs just your corpse, as long as itâs still warm, I wonât mind.â
âWell, youâd better have the ability for that,â I said with a chuckle, moving my hands again.
Throwing knives.
Xia and Dong flew out, forming a cross as they flew toward him. The Third Boss, however, pulled out a large sword from somewhere and cleaved both blades apart.
Xia and Dong landed on the sides, embedding into the ground.
âYoung girl, your attack lacks a bit of skill. Let me show you mine,â he said, raising his sword and swinging toward me, releasing a sharp blade aura.
âTalk too much.â
Wind Drive, Grave Edge, Gentle Wind, Thunder Punishment.
I appeared behind the Third Boss, drawing Chun and Qiu. As the swords left their sheaths, each left a cut on his back.
Quickly changing the way I held them, I struck again at the two wounds.
Chun crackled with lightning, and that strike left him paralyzed and unable to act. I took the opportunity to throw Qiu toward Dong.
Dark Extinguish, Shadow Pursuit.
Using elemental power, I strengthened his darkness, making his shadow visibly darker. This also enhanced the shadow in his mind.
I plunged Chun into the heart of his shadow, causing his entire body to convulse and vomit blood.
âUnexpectedly, you have quite a few tricks.â
âI have more. Do you want to try them all?â
âThen bring them all on. Itâll make killing you even more satisfying.â He swung his sword at me. I used the Blade-Fall skill with Xia to dodge, landing just beside it.
I glanced at the Third Bossâhis expression was vicious.
I smirked.
Throwing knives.
I hurled Chun diagonally toward the still-unturned Third Boss, then drew Xia from the ground.
Shinra, Flame Burst.
Picking up Xia, all her skill cooldowns reduced, allowing me to use Flame Burst again.
Vines wrapped around his feet, immobilizing him in place, though he could still turn.
He quickly spun and swung Chun to deflect me, but I teleported right in front of him.
Xia blazed with fire; a strike hit him, causing flames to erupt, burning his clothes, the vines on the ground, and scalding his skin.
âYou little witch! Iâll kill you!â he roared, his face twisted with rage.
âWerenât you confident just now? Now youâre like a cornered dog? That wonât doâIâm not done having fun.â I smiled slyly and lightly jumped back.
He charged with his great sword but stepped into a trap I had set. The vines bound his feet again.
Light Slash.
Transforming into light, I slashed with Xia across his waist. If it werenât for his high level and tough body, this blow would likely have split him in half.
When I stopped moving, Qiu collided with Dong.
I caught Dong, then sent Qiu toward Chun.
Qiu could fly independently and could be controlled by me, making it a perfect assistant for retrieving swords. Whatever I thought, it executed.
Frenzy Strike, Flame Assault.
I took two steps forward with Dong, leaving it hovering to continue charging. Suddenly appearing behind him, a strike from Dong left a charred wound on his back.
Qiu was fast, returning Chun. I caught Chun and used Xia to throw it at him.
Xia struck his back repeatedly, and I heard a pig-like squeal. Couldnât hold on any longer, could he? A strike to the spineâanyone would be unable to endure it.
Triple Line, Gentle Wind, Thunder Punishment, Shadow Pursuit, Interlocking Slash.
Catching Qiu, I moved in a triangle around him. Each movement left two scars on his body with my swords.
On the final strike, I plunged Chun into his shadow, causing another convulsion.
But it wasnât over. In an instant, I struck ten times with Qiu, leaving ten wounds of varying depthâunfortunately, no split triggered.
âThis battle ends now.â
Blade-Fall.
I threw Qiu diagonally at the Third Boss and charged at the charged-up Dong, holding Chun.
Picking up Xia along the way, I reached Dong and threw Chun.
Vertical Merge.
Because of the earlier Blade-Fall, he was already airborne. I transported the charged Dong in front of him and delivered a heavy strike.
He barely touched the ground before being knocked up again.
His body and mind were now at their limit.
Soul Split Sky Slash!
My eyes glowed with multicolored light. I saw everythingâhis body, soul, memories, and techniques laid bare before me.
A strange force held him in the air. All his forces reached equilibrium. He could neither act nor retreat, fixed in midair, helpless.
I tossed Dong aside, holding only Xia, now glowing with four colors.
Xia was a short sword, slightly longer than a dagger, but perfect for tormenting.
Swiftly, I struck him again and again, not keeping countâjust enough to ensure his death.
I didnât notice if anyone was nearby or if any enemies had escaped.
But I knew the blood that splattered on me made me exhilarated.
A cruel game of slaughterâthe only thing that mattered was the joy.
Pleasure.
