Amelie, burdened with massive debt due to her parents’ obsession with a cult, is forcibly cast adrift at Radiant University in the ‘Citadel,’ the city of gods inhabited by strange creatures. There, she encounters a higher being named Malo who claims to be a professor. “Just because you picked me up doesn’t mean I become yours.” “……Isn’t that right?” In exchange for his help, Amelie decides to become his sole student… The problem is, these guys don’t seem to know what a university is. ▶Short Preview “Professor. What brings you here? I believe this isn’t worktime…” As the man asked hesitantly, Malo stepped a step aside. His eyes widened as he finally noticed me. “I just picked up a student. I told you last time, didn’t I? I’d let you teach as much as you wanted if there was even just one student willing to take the class.” “So, Professor, are you saying… you found the ‘student’ at the research institute?” “Yeah, they were wandering around in the hallway.” It was true, but it felt a bit strange. To think he picked me up wandering in the hallway—he’s not a puppy, after all. The man let out a barely audible sigh and gestured to me. Judging by his reaction when he saw Malo, he must be a human. As I approached his desk, he tapped the open notebook. “Do not lower your head; read this with your eyes only. I am Kwon Tae-hyun, Team Leader of Rescue Team B. Are you currently experiencing damage or distortion to your ego, or facing a physical or mental threat? If so, please nod slightly.” Damage to the ego? A threat to survival? I glanced sideways at Malo, who was still standing by the door watching me, and shook my head slightly. Confirming my reaction, Team Leader Kwon Tae-hyun called out to Malo. “Um, Professor. May I speak with this student first? I will contact the office as soon as I finish.” Malo tilted his head to one side. He stared intently at us and then spoke. “…What are you going to talk about just the two of you? Is it something I shouldn’t hear?” Was it just my imagination? When he asked, I thought I heard a low shush. I got goosebumps at the sudden change in the atmosphere. “He’s my student?”
