Chapter – 27

Today was a location shoot.

In other words, it wasn’t on a set—they were filming at an actual place.

I’d heard that the KDS drama department often rents certain locations, and this time, we had managed to get in touch with one of them.

The scenes I was supposed to be in were being filmed at a school in Suwoon City, Gyeonggi Province.

I also heard that another KDS drama that had recently gained huge popularity had shot one of its most iconic scenes at this school, which had the production team unusually excited for several days leading up to the shoot.

Our team for Your Blue Name also seemed to feel a sense of responsibility, like we had to create a memorable scene here as well.

“Saey, your friend would look good on camera too, right?”
“Yeah. That’s why I bring him along so he can get used to the set.”

Seong Hyesim drove us to the location.

Since it was a day off, and he didn’t have any part-time jobs, I ‘kidnapped’ Woon Seongha to bring him along. He had agreed to come, so it wasn’t really a forceful kidnapping.

“Wow…”

The moment Woon Seongha got into the car, the teacher couldn’t help but admire his face.

‘Even for a teacher who’s seen all sorts of handsome seniors, Seongha’s face is something else…’

Suddenly, I felt a bit distant from Seongha.

He had been hiding that perfect face behind glasses all this time!

I could hear the teacher licking her lips of delight from the back seat.

“I’ve always wanted to learn acting… I’m not sure if I’d be good at it, though.”
“You want to learn from me?”

I had already hinted to the teacher beforehand: my friend’s face was incredible and he absolutely had to be trained to become an actor.

And now, with his voice passing as well, the teacher had no reason to hesitate.

After all, I had taken him as a student in my previous life, so… well.

But Seongha had never once said he wanted to learn acting from me. This sudden statement was unexpected.

Still, I was quietly pleased. I had been trying to get Seongha interested in acting all this time.

Apparently, showing him some acting before had triggered his interest.

The teacher and Seongha exchanged phone numbers. I watched with a satisfied expression as they quickly grew close.

Next, I just needed to let the teacher train Seongha harshly, debut him as an actor, and then get him to sign with Wave Actors.

“Hehe…”

I smiled meaningfully, and Seongha, who had been chatting with the teacher, glanced at me curiously.

That face, that expression—it was like a golden retriever watching its owner.

I shouldn’t have brought Seongha to the location shoot.

Even aside from the production team, the managers from the actors’ agencies present at the shoot couldn’t stop staring at him.

“Does your student act too? Here’s my card…”
“He’s not an actor yet.”

I pushed one card back.

“We’ll make it worth your while, okay?”
“He’s not interested in signing.”

I pushed another card back.

By now, he had already been shoved six business cards by the various men.

Could I really keep stepping in like this to protect him? But only I knew that Seongha was Seo Hajoon.

I had to protect him for my grandfather…

A sudden worry rose in me, and I cautiously asked Seongha.

“Is there anywhere you want to sign? Did I get in the way?”
“There is somewhere.”
“Where?”
“The place you’re at, Saey.”

Seongha answered gently.

…I hadn’t officially signed with Wave Actors yet either, so I was still free.

“Why do you want to sign where I am?”
“Because you’re there.”

It felt a little strange.

Ever since I had secretly brought Seongha to the location that day, he had been making these embarrassingly sweet comments to me from time to time.

Since he wanted to sign because of me, it wouldn’t be right to openly advertise Wave Actors. I just let him know a little.

“I’m still considering it too. If I sign, I’ll let you know. I’d like to be at the same place as you.”

I held out my pinky, and after a moment of hesitation, Seongha wrapped his finger around mine.

‘You’re officially mine now.’

Now that he’d agreed to train under the teacher, he’d improve quickly.

Unaware of what I was thinking, Seongha just smiled warmly like a gentle puppy. The light on his unpolished face shone brightly.

Finally, the scene with Joo Saey approached.

Today, she was assigned essentially one major scene: showing the growth of the young Yeon Do-yeon into her adult self.

The mother, realizing the potential of the daughter she had missed out on while taking care of her son, tries not to make the same mistake with her daughter.

The mother’s first choice for Do-yeon is to return to Seoul.

However, Do-yeon already had Yoo Hajin in her heart.

Caught between her mother and Hajin, Do-yeon ultimately chooses the path to Seoul, leaving him behind.

A cold departure. Do-yeon doesn’t cry as she rides in the truck, only silently watching Hajin waving at her with her eyes.

‘If we are meant to meet again, we will. This isn’t goodbye.’

Even repeating this to herself, when she could no longer see Hajin running alongside the truck, Do-yeon bursts into tears.

Leaving her first love from that summer behind in Oksong-ri, she runs along the school path in Seoul every day.

Whenever she feels heavy emotions, she runs until she’s out of breath, remembering Yoo Hajin’s words: by running, you can forget your troubles for a while, and someday, the future you desire will come into view.

The scene being filmed now used a cross-cutting technique to show Do-yeon running.

Autumn Do-yeon, freshly back in Seoul, slightly tanned by the Oksong-ri sun. Winter Do-yeon, in a padded jacket with her vocabulary notebook, running. Then spring, summer, autumn, winter again…

Finally, the young Do-yeon becomes an adult.

The actress switches from Joo Saey to Park Yeon-hee, showing Do-yeon colliding with Hajin, now in Seoul. Thus, episode one ends.

‘This is a masterclass in child actor direction…’

No wonder writer Choi Gijeong was called a master of child actors. Saey felt a sense of awe as she pictured the scene.

She had no idea of the number of times she would have to change clothes and run in the future for editing purposes.

I’m dying…

No exaggeration. I really feel like I’m dying…

“Drink some water quickly. I went to get ice water for you.”
“Thaaanks…”

If Woon Seongha had handed it to me just five seconds later, I would have collapsed on the pavement.

I considered myself to have decent stamina, but after repeating costume changes and running several times, I was completely drained.

So that explained why today’s shoot only had this one sequence.

As the adult Do-yeon’s turn came, Park Yeon-hee ran multiple times as well.

“Once you’re done drinking, give it to me, Saey. I’ll throw it away.”
“No way, I’ll do it. You’ve had a hard time in the heat too.”
“I want to do it for you.”

Resigned, I handed the bottle to Woon Seongha, who wagged his tail like a dog, looking up at me.

Even as he went to throw the bottle away, I didn’t take my eyes off Park Yeon-hee. Her energy still seemed lacking.

‘She must still be worried about the company.’

I felt a surge of concern and my shoulders slumped.

“…Too hot, too tired? Want me to fan you?”
“Seongha, if you do that, you’ll just be my subordinate… Even as an actor, word would get around.”
“…I’m fine with that.”

…Did Seongha get affected by the heat too? I ignored him and continued watching the shoot.
