Chapter 03
What does it feel like to meet your favorite character from a novel you’ve dreamed about?
If someone asked me that, I’d answer like this:
“It’s freaking amazing.”
“Sion…!”
I shot straight toward him.
Leaning silently against the wall with his eyes closed, frost had settled over his body, as if proving just how cold it was.
He looked like a painting—
No.
More like a corpse.
“Sion! I’m here! Your Devotion Fairy is here!”
I flew around him in circles, shouting noisily.
My commotion made Garen, who was guarding outside, panic as well.
“Fairy?! What’s happening? Is the young master alright?!”
“I don’t know! He looks dead already!”
To wake him up, I started smacking his cheeks with my palms.
It was a waste of such a beautiful face, but I had no choice.
“Sion, wake up! Open your eyes! You can’t die in a place like this!”
At that moment—
His eyelids twitched.
“…!”
Beyond his long silver-gray lashes, blue-gray eyes slowly opened.
Our gazes met.
“Sion…!!!”
I grabbed his cheeks tightly.
Confusion filled his eyes as he looked down at me.
“…What is this.”
“Ahhh! I finally met you, my favorite…!!!”
“…A fairy?”
He muttered in disbelief.
I nodded enthusiastically.
“Yes, yes! My name’s Lin! I came to see you!”
“……”
He seemed completely speechless.
“Ugh, seriously! Look at this face, all ruined! Don’t worry anymore, Sion! I’ll protect you from now on!”
Just trust your Devotion Fairy!
I’ll take care of everything for you!
“……”
Sion stared at me in stunned silence.
I waited patiently for him to process the situation.
After a moment, he spoke in a low, smooth voice.
“…Why is a fairy in a place like this?”
“Well, I came to see you. He brought me here.”
I pointed toward Garen, who was peeking in through the small barred window.
“…Garen.”
“Young Master! You’re awake!”
Sion let out a sigh.
“What is all this noise?”
“Are you alright? It’s been three days since you were imprisoned here. I tried to ask Assistant Luman to reconsider your punishment, but it was no use. Then…”
Garen glanced at me awkwardly.
“I encountered that fairy… and brought her here with me.”
“……”
“Do you… know her?”
“There’s no way.”
“Then what on earth—”
Silence fell as both of them looked at me.
I smiled brightly at Sion.
Their expressions turned… complicated.
After a moment, Sion rubbed his forehead as if annoyed.
“…Both of you, leave.”
“What?”
I blinked in shock.
“I don’t know why a fairy came here, but I’m not interested in getting dragged into some ridiculous nonsense.”
“Huh? It’s not nonsense!”
He ignored me completely and said coldly to Garen,
“Garen, I’ll leave when the time comes. Don’t give that woman an excuse to cause trouble.”
“But, Young Master—”
“That’s enough. You’re disturbing my rest.”
With that, he closed his eyes again.
Silence filled the dungeon.
“……”
I stared at him blankly.
I hadn’t expected Sion to warmly welcome a random fairy out of nowhere…
But this was even colder than I imagined.
…Which made it even better.
“As expected, this is Sion’s charm.”
I smirked.
After all, I was a Devotion Fairy chosen (probably) through insane competition for my unwavering love for this sub male lead.
That cold, distant, cynical attitude?
To others, it might seem rude—
But to me, it was just cool… and heartbreaking.
Sion, who lost his only mother at a young age, entered the Grand Duke’s estate and was rejected by everyone for being illegitimate.
That lonely, harsh upbringing shaped him into who he was now.
But I knew better than anyone—
That he was actually warm, steadfast, and deeply sincere.
Gazing at him softly, I recalled a line from the original novel:
“When I was young, I was often locked in the underground dungeon of the annex.”
It was something Sion had once mentioned casually after opening up to the heroine.
“Cold and hunger were bearable… but enduring that empty darkness and silence was the hardest.”
I smiled.
This was the moment for a Devotion Fairy to do her job.
“Sion. Get up.”
I lightly pinched his chin. His brow twitched.
“We’re leaving.”
“…?”
Making sure he opened his eyes, I flew up into the air.
Then I glared at the iron door.
“You think I’ll let my favorite rot in a filthy dungeon like this?”
From what I’d seen so far, these “fangirl skills” seemed to activate based on my devotion and intent.
“Alright. If my theory is right… I should get a new skill to open that door.”
I stretched out my arm dramatically.
“Hyaaah! Open, door!”
…
Nothing happened.
“…W-Wrong one?”
Just as cold sweat trickled down my back under Sion’s gaze—
Ding—
You have acquired the fangirl skill:
<Devotion That Cannot Be Stopped>
<Devotion That Cannot Be Stopped>:
True devotion moves forward no matter the obstacle! Nothing can block your love for your favorite. Crush all obstacles with unwavering devotion!
“…!!!”
Ah.
So instead of opening the door—
It destroys it.
Perfect.
Excitement surged through me.
A chance to make a powerful first impression on Sion!
I struck a dramatic pose and shouted,
“Hyaaah! Go! <Devotion That Cannot Be Stopped>!”
Fwoooosh—
A tiny pink heart formed at my fingertips.
It looked… kind of cheap.
But it shot forward with a cute sound—
Pew!
And the moment it hit the iron door—
KABOOOOOM—!!!
The massive door flew several meters back.
“…Oh.”
I blinked in awe.
A moment later—
Crack—
The wall supporting the door split—
Then collapsed completely.
CRASH—!!!
“Holy—! Cough, cough, cough!!”
Dust filled the air.
After a moment, the dust settled.
I quickly flew to Sion.
“Sion! Are you okay? You’re not hurt, right?!”
“……”
He was half-standing, staring at the destroyed door and collapsed wall.
His expression clearly said:
What the hell just happened?
I laughed awkwardly.
“Haha… I tried to open the door, but I kinda broke the wall instead. Guess I overdid it. Sorry.”
“……”
Garen climbed over the rubble, coughing.
“Well… as the fairy said… the wall has collapsed. So this is no longer much of a prison.”
He looked around in disbelief.
“There’s no point in you staying here anymore, Young Master.”
“Exactly!”
I chimed in.
“And judging by the condition of the walls, there’s a risk of further collapse. You should leave quickly.”
“That’s right, that’s right.”
I nodded enthusiastically.
Nice one, Garen. Not bad for a background knight.
Encouraged, I reached out my hand to Sion.
“Come on, Sion. Let’s go.”
“……”
He looked at me with a complicated mix of disbelief and exhaustion.
“…Haa. What even is this.”
Then—
He grabbed me.
“Eep!”
And stuffed me straight into his robe.
“Stay hidden if we’re leaving.”
His voice was cold and clearly annoyed.
“…Yes, sir.”
I stopped struggling and settled down quietly.
Then I leaned comfortably against his chest.
Being held by my favorite for the first time—
Was incredibly cozy.
