Chapter : 65
Andras returned to the Rohanson estate while letting out a wide yawn. After begging Daisy for some snacks and rolling around on Evangeline Rohansonâs bed, Plauros grew displeased and extended his claws, scratching Andras. Andras screamed in pain and twisted his body.
âDonât get dog hair all over Lady Evangelineâs bed.â
âAh! Pudding, this is animal abuse, you feline bastard! I demand equality! Youâre always acting like a house cat, sitting on your ownerâs lap and purring, so why wonât you even let me lie on the bed?â
Plauros didnât even bother listening to Andras and simply sat down on the bed. Since Evangeline was away, Plauros had, for the first time in a long while, taken on a human form. Light scattered and shimmered so brightly that it was blinding, causing Andras to instinctively frown.
Andras, who had rolled onto the floor, had no choice but to transform back into human form. If he wasnât allowed to shed hair on the bed, he had to stay human. But wasnât it even more improper for a person to lie on the bed? Just as he was about to jump onto it, Plauros stopped him and pointed toward the sofa.
âThatâs your seat.â
âYou shouldâve said so earlier. You just meant I couldnât lie on the bed.â
With no other choice, Andras slumped onto the designated sofa and leaned back. Well, he supposed the kind one should yield. As if to lift Andrasâs mood, Daisy arrived at just the right time with sherbet. After taking a spoonful, it felt as though all the stress in the world melted away.
âWhere is Lady Evangeline?â
âShe left immediately for the Imperial Palace.â
Plauros began sharing his vision through the eyes he had scattered around Evangeline.
âTch. What a stalker.â
Jelly clicked her tongue.
âAh, speaking of stalkers, there are an unusually large number of people lurking near the marquessâs estate. And most of them are priests.â
âPriests?â
The scenery shifting rapidly from the carriage came to a halt only upon arriving at the Imperial Palace. Plauros felt a subtle sense of discomfort from the palace seen beyond his vision. He couldnât pinpoint exactly what was wrong, but there was a distinctly strange foreign feeling.
âAndras. Why do I smell something rotten?â
âFrom me?â
Andras lifted his arm and sniffed it, but all he could detect was the well-maintained scent typical of a high-class indoor dog.
âI mean from the Imperial Palace⌠Something feels off⌠I think I should go see Lady Evangeline myself.â
Plauros replicated the appearance of the palace servants he saw through his vision. With curly blond hair, pale, slender hands without a single callus, his attire didnât suit him at allâbut he didnât seem to care.
âLady Evangeline would probably prefer you in your cat form. Or⌠maybe she wonât even recognize you like this?â
Andras snickered and teased him, only to get hit again for his trouble. Even so, Andras managed to secure his sherbet and looked quite pleased with himself.
